Laser welding is a process where metals are fused using a laser beam to form a weld. The non-contact laser beam permits welding in otherwise inaccessible areas. Non-contact welding ensures hygiene when welding medical devices and hypo-allergenic materials like titanium.

Laser welders produce a sharp, focused light beam that melts a very small area of metal. The benefit of this technology is that very little heat is generated at the weld point, allowing users to easily weld 0,5mm away from the most complicated and intricate component parts without damaging heat-sensitive materials.

Solid-state laser welder operators hold parts in their hands while viewing the application through a stereo-microscope in the welding chamber. An internal cross-hair allows the operator to easily align and weld the parts at the correct location.

  1. Bring in your article or courier it to us
  2. Fill out our “taken in form”
  3. Items will be placed in a sealed bag and placed in safekeeping
  4. Items will be quoted/estimated and sent for approval If required.
  5. The welding will be then done.
  6. An invoice will be sent when the job is ready for collecting
  7. Please make full payment before collecting your job.

The filler metal used is the same as the article so there is no weak spot, as with solder.

This depends on how close the welding is to the stones. Removal is not necessary in most cases but this will be discussed when we physically see the article for repair.

Lasers successfully weld carbon steel, high strength steel, stainless steel, titanium, aluminium, and precious metals.

Aluminium welding requires helium as a shielding gas, and this will be quoted as an additional cost.

In short, we take every precaution to avoid this happening!

However, although we take every possible precaution to safeguard your items, we can not guarantee the outcome due to circumstances beyond our control. i.e. porosity, imported articles, plating, manufacturing defects, etc.

All items are kept under lock and key when not being engraved.

We make use of a professional, international courier service. Please email to request a delivery quote & the extra fee will be added to your final invoice. Generally the fee is from R120 per collection / drop off but the price all depends on your location and urgency.

The stereo microscope ensures very precise laser welding of small articles and inaccessible areas. The laser beam size and intensity can be precisely controlled to produce a wide range of welds from a small as o,2m/m while retaining the strength of the material welded.

Puk welding is mainly for larger areas and does not have the precision or accessibility of the laser welding

This depends on wear and tear by the wearer/user.
